Peak Two-day company training

Peak Two-day company training

We had the amazing opportunity to provide a two-day, company-wide training which covered CPR, AED and First aid, sexual harassment, and Telehandler.

During the four-hour CPR, AED and First aid portion of the training every employee had to complete a written and hands-on portion to receive their certification. During the CPR portion of the course, they learned the 3 steps to CPR: compressions, airway and breathing. Each employee had the opportunity to practice on a dummy to make sure they were performing the motions correctly. Everyone learned how and when to use an AED and were able to use a practice AED to be able to hear and get a feel for what it would be like when using the device in an emergency. The First Aid portion of the training covered the essential life saving skills, like controlling bleeding, treating shock and more.

As a company we feel that having our employees certified in CPR, AED and First aid is a very important because no one can ever predict when an emergency may happen. To have the opportunity to be able to have the Peak employees be able to help others as well as an employee in an emergency and make sure everyone is safe is a must.

The next four-hour training we had was Sexual Harassment. During this training every employee completed a pop quiz, listen to the presentation, and finished the certification off with a 30-question test. Making sure all our employees are aware what Sexual harassment is and who may be effect and where it can happen is very important to Peak. Here at Peak, we are committed to make sure that everyone is welcome and making the workplace a safe place for everyone.

The last eight-hour potion was getting certified in Telehandler. This section was broken down into two parts the first portion was a four-hour classroom potion. During this time the trainer talked about safe operation, common hazards, how to maintain, inspect and use a telescopic handler and more. After the classroom portion of this section, they completed a written exam.

The second half of the eight-hour class everyone was able to use the forklift we had on site and practice the skills and safety tips they learned during the classroom portion to get certified. Each employee must complete a full inspection of the equipment. By completing the inspection, the employee was able to determine if there was any maintenance that needed to be done to the forklift and it if was safety to perform the required tasks. After completing the inspection each employee was able to operate the forklift, they had to complete a couple tasks. The task ranged from driving around in a circle after they had picked up material to making sure when backing up, they signaled by using their horn.

As a company we are so thrilled we were able to offer this two-day training for all our employees. Each employee walked about being able to say they are certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid, they completed a sexual harassment course and are aware what is all considered sexual harassment and have the knowledge to operate and perform tasks on the job site with the forklift safely and effectively.
